This clock is 19th century vintage and is in good running condition. It chimes the hour and half hour with a bim bam sound. A decorative porcelain face that shows a little damage around the key wind holes is the only apparent flaw. It has a double "mercury" pendulum encased in glass tubes. This is not real mercury but a highly polished steel slug inserted in a glass tube to resemble mercury. Most American clocks of this era did not contain mercury. The case is beveled glass on 4 sides with doors on both front and back. 9" tall x 6" wide and 5.5" deep. Brass retains its patina. Made by the New Haven Clock Co. New Haven Conn. USA. An antique and unusual clock. |
