A pink or red transferware tureen in a fleur de lis rim pattern and a handpainted floral center. The piece is scalloped and has embossed fruit handles and a fruit embossed finial on the lid. In very good condition, with a chip on one of the 4 paw feet as shown. Otherwise in very good condition. There is a number impressed on the inside of one of the feet 4934. G.L.Ashworth Bros. used the Mason's crown and drape mark ca 1820. Made in Staffordshire, England. There is also a US Patent # on the inside of the lid which is 71374, issued in 1868. This is an impressive piece, standing 8.5" tall and is 11" handle to handle. Very unusual with both transfer printing and handpainting. |
