A large game plate from Bavaria, Rheinhold Merkelbach ca 1895. It is gold trimmed with a transfer game bird, the Woodcock, with additional handpainting. There is a signature which is unreadable to my eyes. I think the initials are B K.
Some of the handpainting is worn as is one large rim area near the right upper edge. Otherwise an outstanding signed Bavarian game plate. |
