Johnson Bros. Historic America Barnums Museum Platter
A beautiful pink or red Staffordshire transferware platter measuring 12"x9.5. This antique platter is part of the Historic America series and this one depicts Barnum's Museum. In Excellent condition. Note that this was marked both England and Made in England. 1871 being the year that the USA enacted the law that all imports bear the "made in" phrase as well as the country of origin. The Johnson Bros. pottery just added the phrase to the existing backstamp. The patent number bears this out. An historic piece in more than one way.
Circa: 1871-72
Size: 9.5x12
Type: Transferware
Country of Origin: GB
Manufacturer: Johnson Bros.
