Takahashi China Tumble Up A fine china tumble up made by Takahashi and imported to the US to be sold only in the finest department stores. This decanter and tumbler were meant to be placed by the bedside for convenience. The drinking glass fits over the decanter. An unusual piece as these are generally found only in glass. Charming too, with its full blown pink roses and green leaves. Trimmed in gold. In excellent condition. No chips or cracks.

Handpainted Poppy Plate A hand painted early 20th century small plate made in Japan. It is scalloped and has a gold trim with small violet flowers and the center is handpainted with orange poppies on a yellow/ gold ground. In fair conditon with a minor rim chip, it also has some glaze pops. Rather crudely done.

Pierced Plate with Violets From Japan in the early 20th century, an 8.25" diameter plate that has been pierced or reticulated. The piercings take the formof leaves, with veins outlined in gold. A lovely painting of violets or pansies in the center.

Dragonware Tea Set with Lithopane Geishas A Dragonware teaset in the black and grey tones. The teapot is 7.5" tall, there is a creamer and sugar bowl with lid and 5 demitasse size cups and saucers. The bottom of the cups reveal the head of a Geisha when held to the light. This technique is called lithopane. In very good condition. No chips cracks or crazing.
This tea set has 5 cups as is the Japanese custom to have an odd number of place settings. There is only one marked piece which is a small tidbit dish which I am including. I don't believe this was intended for export due to the number of cups and the absence of markings on each piece.
