Moss Rose Trinket Box A trinket box in the Moss Rose pattern trimmed in gold with lovely curved feet. The box is 2"tall x 3" wide and 4.5" long. Moss Rose was an extremely popular pattern from 1808-1900. But this piece was made as late as 1921-41. Almost every country made a version of this pattern. England, Germany, Poland, the USA, Japan. It is not often known where they originated. This set is marked in red Japan. See my other listings for matching pieces.

Antique Japanese Vase A beautiful porcelain Japanese vase made just after the Nippon mark was no longer allowed in 1921. This mark is a sailboat with Japan and handpainted in green. 1921-41 A majestice 9.5" x 5.5" eared vase gilt trimmed with beading. Full blown pink roses on a variegated green ground. In excellent condition with some wear of the gold on the handles.

Nippon Hair Receiver & Powder Jar Set A delicate Nippon porcelain handpainted dresser or vanity set consisting of a tri-footed hair receiver and a lidded powder jar. The handpainting has gold beading and individually painted roses and leaves, exquisite work. This set has been used and loved. While there are no chips, cracks or other flaws, the constant use has rubbed a bit of the gold off as seen in the photos. Not enough to mar the beauty of this set, just enough to show its antiquity. The mark shown is the Komaru symbol. It is shown in black and white because of photograpy difficulties. It is actually blue on the white porcelain. The symbol is said to be taken from the Japanese character "Komaru", meaning "overcoming difficulties". The words hand painted over the symbol and below is Nippon. This is a very early mark, possibly from 1910. The mark was used by a forerunner of Noritake.

Occupied Japan Lemon Dish Made in Japan during the occupation years of 1945-1952 and marked Occupied Japan. This is a lovely handpainted dish with a ring handle, often used to serve lemon slices for tea or other occasions. It may also be used for candies. It is 5.25" square. The hand painted pattern is of pinks or carnations. Sprigs adorn the 4 corners. In excellent condition.
